Reiki is a Japanese healing art in which the practitioner transmits energy to the recipient, often by the gentle laying-on of hands. Reiki works with and improves all of the energy systems of the recipient. The intention is to restore balance in the physical body, calm the emotional mind, and facilitate a deeper state of consciousness and connection.
In terms of what to expect from a Reiki session, each person experiences it differently. A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and all around you. Many people have felt tingling or changes in temperature; some have an emotional release; some even fall asleep. Most people report experiencing feelings of peace, deep relaxation, and a deep felt sense of well-being.
Beyond relaxation, the benefits of Reiki are:
Relief of pain and stress;
Balance of energies within the body;
Improved functioning of the immune system;
Release and cleanse of toxins from the body;
Increased vitality and well-being;
Clearing of energetic and emotional blockages;
Assistance in recovery from illness, trauma, accident, or surgery; and
Support in spiritual growth and awakening of consciousness.
Reiki is a simple, natural, and safe method of healing that everyone can use and enjoy. Considered to be a complementary health care technique, it also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote healing and recovery. I received my Level II Reiki Certification from Betty Segerdahl of Infinite Wellness in 2016.
